Skiing Towards Paradise
We skied upward from the parking lot at Paradise (5400 ft) at 10 AM under clear skies. We headed north towards Camp Muir, nearly a vertical mile above us, with high hopes for fabulous vistas and prime summer skiing. This was Reina's first time ski mountaineering. She was using Alpine Trekker randonnee adapters to ski uphill on her normal alpine skis, while I used my trusty randonnee setup. We skied up to Glacier Vista (6300 ft), then put our skis on our packs and hiked up along a snowless traverse to the top of Panorama Point (6800 ft). Looking south, Reina poses in front of the Tatoosh Range, with Mount Adams in the distance.
