The steep three-sided summit pyramid of Mount Shuksan is surrounded on all sides by glaciers flowing downwards from its base. The Sulphide and Crystal Glaciers on the south side are relatively gentle at their upper edge, but on the north side of the peak the Hanging Glacier drops away in a steep icefall over 5000 vertical feet above the valley below.
