Evening Light on South Sister
As we climbed (skied) steadily higher, the day grew warmer and the snow softened. The views to the south expanded too, with most of the prominent volcanoes of the southern Cascade Range within sight. Diamond Peak is the large snowy mass (right center), while in the left distance are Mounts Thielsen and Bailey. In the farthest distance at left center is Mount McLoughlin, over 120 miles to the SSW. At the bottom of the photo lie the wavy ridges of the snow-covered Rock Mesa, an obsidian lava flow (see map).
