Page History:
January 2010Original version with 9 camera views, designed based on the Mount Rainier Paradise WebCams webpage, with cameras from the Northernmost California Mountain WebCams webpage
Includes the option to show the last 24 hours of telemetry data from Lower Lassen Peak, Harkness Flat, and Manzanita Lake below the webcams
February 2010Fixed one camera link which had changed
April 2010Fixed one camera link which had changed
May 2010Fix unwanted line breaks in telemetry dates on narrow screens
October 2010Expanded to 12 camera views, adding cameras near Burney, and fixed some camera links which had changed
November 2011Fixed links to Allen Telescope Array website which had changed
October 2012Remained to 12 camera views, adding the new NPS Manzanita Lake webcam which (at long last!) has an actual view of Lassen Peak, and removing the Chester webcam which had changed to Flash
Updated the URLs for all Caltrans webcam imagess, which had changed and now include a time stamp and have the correct aspect ratio
November 2012Added the nearby Mineral telemetry site, plus minor improvements to formatting of all California Cooperative Snow Surveys telemetry data
January 2013Added the nearby Snow Mountain telemetry site, located on the slopes of a heavily eroded stratovolcano west of the Cascade Crest, a high-precipitaion area
February 2013Expanded to 14 camera views, adding a new webcam in Chester and another Caltrans cam near Susanville
March 2013Expanded to 15 camera views, adding another Caltrans cam in Susanville
Added the nearby Blacks Mountain telemetry site, located near the summit of a small shield volcano east of the Cascade Crest, a rain-shadowed area
Added the ability to remove unwanted columns from any of the California Cooperative Snow Surveys telemetry data, such as the NSLR columns from the Lower Lassen Peak site, plus improved location descriptions for several of the sites
November 2013Improved error checking for missing California Cooperative Snow Surveys telemetry data files
December 2013 Revised the page layout to use separate tables for each row, to better accommodate the very different widths of images, and rearranged several images into more logical geographic order
March 2014 Expanded to 17 camera views, adding 2 new Caltrans cams near Chester, and rearranged several camera images
Added 4 nearby California Data Exchange Center telemetry sites (Shingletown, Lassen Lodge, Bogard, and Chester) which have precip and other data, although no snow data
September 2014Expanded to 18 camera views, adding a new Caltrans cam near Montgomery Creek
November 2014 Fixed the telemetry data from Lower Lassen Peak, for which the data columns had recently changed
December 2014 Expanded to 23 camera views in 4 rows, adding webcams near Old Station, Lake Almanor, Westwood, Susanville, and Janesville
February 2015 Added the nearby Eagle Lake SCAN site, along with the capability to use a mix of CCSS and SNOTEL/SCAN sites within the telemetry section
Improved display when California Cooperative Snow Surveys telemetry data is offline
April 2015 Expanded to 24 camera views, adding the Shasta County Air Quality Webcam
October 2015Fixed 4 Caltrans camera links which had needlessly changed by a single dash
December 2015 Added 1 more telemetry site with snow-water-content and precip data, Humbug, located at the southernmost end of the Cascade Range
Removed image modification time for the Westwood cam, which now has a timestamp on the image
January 2016 Expanded to 31 camera views rearranged into 5 rows, adding the Butte Meadows cam at the southernmost end of the Cascade Range, along with cams at Whiskeytown Lake, Lake Blvd in Redding, Anderson, Shingletown, Whitmore, and another cam at Lake Almanor
Added 1 more telemetry site with precip data, Carpenter Ridge, located at the southernmost end of the Cascade Range
Reduced image sizes slightly from 360-270-180 to 320-240-160 pixels high for large-medium-small options
Added a script from the Donner Summit WebCams page to convert the Snow Mountain site's quarter-hourly precip "event" data into an hourly data column (it's unclear why the CDEC website can't simply copy the "event" data into the hourly data, it does so for some sites already but not others)
Later wrote a new external script to grab data from CDEC (such as the California Cooperative Snow Surveys telemetry sites), which downloads the data and formats it to match the style of the SNOTEL data, the script makes maintenance of these pages much easier by moving all CDEC telemetry code into a single location instead of separate code on each individual California Mountain WebCams page
February 2016 Major internal PHP code cleanup, updating and/or deleting legacy code left over from very long ago, from the Mount Rainier Paradise WebCams webpage (March 2009) on which all of these "Webcams + Telemetry Pages" are based, and even from the original Washington Mountain WebCams webpage (December 2004) on which the Rainier page was based
Added 9 more regional RAWS hourly telemetry sites located on all sides of Lassen Park which have precip, wind, solar, and other sensors (but not snowdepth), data from 4 of these sites are available on the CDEC website, the other 5 sites only via MesoWest
March 2016 Added 2 more regional RAWS hourly telemetry sites to the SW and east of Lassen Park which have precip, wind, solar, and other sensors (and even snowdepth on one site!), with data available from MesoWest
Fixed all Weather Underground camera URLs, which now apparently need "?time()" appended in order to update properly
