The Truncated Cone of St Helens
An awesome display of high cirrus and often lenticular clouds (like the oval blob at right) rose above the crater rim of Mount Saint Helens, fueled by strong southwesterly winds aloft. Despite this, the winds at ground level were generally quite moderate all day.
