From the false summit the view was astounding, with a visibility of over 150 miles (250 km). Looking south, we could see the five highest peaks in the Oregon Cascades. At center is Mount Hood (11239 ft / 3426 m), with Mount Jefferson (10497 ft / 3199 m) just to its left. Farther to the left, just barely visible, are the Three Sisters (all over 10000 ft / 3000 m).
