After parking at 4500 ft (1350 m), where snow and downed trees blocked the road, we began hiking on foot along the road, climbing over and ducking under over a hundred fallen trees during the next couple of miles. We skiied uphill once the snow deepened and set up camp at 6000 ft (1800 m). The next morning we set out at 6 am, skinning uphill over the firm snow. Here Mount Hood shines in the morning sun 60 miles to the south in Oregon, with Mount Jefferson visible just to its left on the distant horizon over 100 miles away.Trip Introduction | Previous Page | Next Page
