West Side of Mount Adams
I reached the false summit (11657 ft / 3553 m) by 1 PM, climbing rapidly up the second half the slope below once I got my second wind. This view looks south, down along our climbing route which begins in the right center of the photo. The dark tongue just beyond the snow is the 3 mile (5 km) long Aiken Lava Bed, which erupted about 2000 years ago.
